Divinity in the Depths of the Cell

God´s size - the idea of God changes direction.
What follows is not a claim of certainty, but an exploration at the boundary where physics ends and metaphysics begins.

1. The collapse of “solid reality”

Modern science has already dismantled the intuitive idea of a solid world.

At the deepest levels studied, matter is not truly solid. Fundamental entities such as electrons are treated as point-like, without measurable size. Reality behaves less like “objects” and more like fields, interactions, and probabilities.

Even more striking, there exists a scale at which the very concepts of space and distance begin to lose meaning.

In other words, there is a threshold beyond which “smallness” is no longer a physical idea.

2. The unanswered direction

Science has looked outward—to galaxies, expansion, and the large-scale structure of the universe. It has also looked inward—to atoms, particles, and quantum behavior.

But there is a limit. Observation requires interaction, and interaction requires scale. Below a certain level, observation itself becomes impossible.

At that boundary, science does not say “nothing exists.” It says, “We cannot measure further.”

That is not an answer. It is a frontier.

3. A reversal of perspective

Culturally, God has often been imagined as infinite, vast, and above and beyond everything.

But another possibility emerges when one follows the trajectory of scientific discovery. Each step toward the fundamental has revealed something smaller, less visible, more abstract, and less “material.”

This suggests a reversal: not the largest, but the most fundamental; not above everything, but beneath everything.

4. The idea of an irreducible origin

Physics already works with entities that are not composed of smaller parts, without internal structure, and represented as dimensionless points.

If that logic is extended — philosophically rather than experimentally — another idea appears: an ultimate origin that is not merely the smallest piece of matter, but the source of existence itself.

Such an origin would not be visible, measurable, or spatial. It would not even qualify as a “thing” in the ordinary sense. Yet it could be causally real — the foundation upon which all measurable reality depends.

5. The pattern of descent

Human understanding has followed a consistent pattern: from organisms to cells, from cells to molecules, from molecules to atoms, and from atoms to subatomic particles.

At every stage, there was a moment when it seemed the “bottom” had been reached. Each time, that assumption proved premature.

This raises a legitimate question: why assume that the current limits of physics represent the true end of the chain?

6. The boundary as meaning

At the smallest scales, science encounters a breakdown. Concepts fail, measurement fails, and visualization fails.

This breakdown is usually treated as a limitation. But it can also be interpreted differently.

The point where understanding collapses may also be the point where foundation resides — not as an object among objects, but as the condition that makes all objects possible.

7. A different conception of God

Under this view, the idea of God changes direction.

Not a being located somewhere, not a force among other forces, and not a vast entity occupying space.

Instead, the irreducible origin of reality, the non-measurable ground beneath all measurable things, the “smallest” not in size, but in fundamentality.

So small that no instrument can detect it, no image can represent it, and no mind can fully grasp it.

As inquiry moves deeper into reality, what is encountered is not increasing solidity, but increasing abstraction.

What appears at the foundation is not clearly physical. It is something upon which physics itself seems to depend.

Whether one names that a quantum foundation, an irreducible origin, or God is not determined by measurement alone, but by how one chooses to interpret the limits of knowledge.

Life´s size - Heat and light may not merely support life.

What follows extends the same line of thought: if reality at its foundation resists being described as “things,” then perhaps the categories used to describe it must also be reconsidered.

1. The traditional division: matter and energy

Modern science organizes reality into two broad categories: matter, what has mass and occupies space; and energy, what produces change, motion, and interaction. This distinction has been extraordinarily useful. It allows prediction, engineering, and measurement. But usefulness does not guarantee completeness.

At deeper levels, even physics begins to blur this division. Matter behaves like waves. Energy behaves like particles. Both are described as excitations of underlying fields, so even within science, the boundary between matter and energy is not absolute.

2. A different division: living and non-living

Consider an alternative way of organizing reality: not “matter and energy,” but “living and non-living.” This is not a biological definition limited to organisms. It is a structural proposal. Some configurations of reality participate in propagation, interaction, and continuity; others remain inert, passive, or terminal.

Under this view, “life” is not an isolated phenomenon appearing late on Earth. It is a mode of existence — one that may be present in forms too small to be perceived or classified by current biology.

3. Reinterpreting waves

Waves are typically described as transfers of energy, oscillations through a medium or field. But if the deepest layers of reality are not inert, another interpretation becomes possible.

Waves may be organized propagations of ultra-fundamental entities.

In this perspective, a light wave is not just energy moving. A sound wave is not just vibration traveling. They could be coordinated activity of entities so small they evade all direct observation. Not metaphorically alive, but participating in a form of existence that includes movement, transmission, interaction, and continuity.

4. Heat and light reconsidered

Conventionally, heat is random motion, and light is electromagnetic radiation. Both are treated as conditions that enable life, not as life themselves.

But if one removes the assumption that “life” must resemble cellular organisms, a shift occurs. Heat and light may not merely support life — they may be expressions of life at a different scale.

This does not imply intention, consciousness, or biology as commonly understood. It suggests that activity is not imposed on matter; activity is intrinsic to certain forms of existence. In that sense, what is called “energy” may be the visible behavior of underlying living processes.

5. Propagation through the universe

Life on Earth propagates through reproduction, growth, and transmission of structure. But waves propagate too — continuously, across vast distances, without loss of identity in form.

This invites a parallel. Waves may represent a more fundamental mode of propagation — one that precedes biological life. Under this interpretation, life does not begin with organisms. Organisms are a later expression of a deeper propagating principle.

So instead of life emerging from matter and energy, one could consider matter and energy as states within a broader continuum of living and non-living configurations.

6. The smallest scale revisited

If the foundational layer of reality is not directly measurable, not spatial in the usual sense, and not composed of parts, then its classification as “non-living” is not something that can be demonstrated — it is an assumption.

This proposal challenges that assumption. At the smallest scale, what appears as energy may in fact be activity of entities that meet a broader definition of life — so small that they cannot be isolated, they cannot be imaged, and they cannot be reduced further. Yet they participate in transmission, propagation, interaction, and persistence.

7. A unified picture

Putting the pieces together, the distinction between matter and energy becomes secondary. The deeper distinction becomes active vs. inert, or living vs. non-living.

In this framework, waves are not carriers of life — they are life in motion. Heat is not a byproduct — it is activity itself. Light is not illumination — it is propagation. And biological life, as known on Earth, becomes a localized, structured, and visible manifestation of a far more fundamental continuum.

The universe may not be composed of matter and energy as separate categories, but of configurations that either participate in propagation or remain inert.

What is called energy — light, heat, waves — may not be external forces acting on life, but expressions of activity at scales too small to be recognized as living.

In that sense, life does not emerge from the universe.

It may be that the universe, at its deepest level, is already alive — and what is observed as waves is the way that life moves.

Where Consciousness Fits in the Mitochondrial Framework

In our working model, we have proposed the vagus nerve as the physiological counterpart of what ancient traditions call Kundalini or chi — the organizing current of life. We have also proposed mitochondria as the primal generative force — the biological equivalent of what theology names God: the source of energy, order, and animation.

The remaining question is foundational: where does consciousness fit?

If consciousness requires life, and life requires mitochondrial activity, then consciousness cannot precede mitochondrial function. Without mitochondrial energy, the heart does not beat, neurons do not fire, and the so-called “soul” has no biological platform through which to express itself.

Therefore, we must ask clearly: is consciousness the source, or is it the expression?

1. The Biological Premise

Every cell in the human body depends on mitochondria for ATP production. Remove mitochondrial function and ion gradients collapse, neurons cease firing, the brain becomes electrically silent, and the organism becomes inert.

There is no thinking without ATP. There is no perception without ATP. There is no awareness without ATP.

Even the highest cortical functions — reflection, self-awareness, and moral reasoning — are metabolically expensive. The brain, while only about 2% of body weight, consumes roughly 20% of resting metabolic energy.

This leads to a simple but profound statement: consciousness is metabolically gated.

No mitochondrial output means no neural activity, and no neural activity means no conscious experience.

2. What Consciousness Is Not

Within this framework, consciousness is not a floating entity separate from biology, an independent energy field operating outside metabolism, or a mystical substance that overrides physical law.

If mitochondria shut down, consciousness disappears. This alone tells us something critical: consciousness is dependent, not autonomous.

3. Working Definition

In the context of this argument, consciousness may be defined as the dynamic, organized experience produced by metabolically sustained neural activity.

It is not the fuel. It is not the generator. It is the emergent phenomenon of an energized system.

Mitochondria generate usable energy. Neural networks organize that energy into patterns. Consciousness is the lived experience of those patterns.

4. The Theological Bridge

If we use symbolic language, mitochondria represent the sustaining source (creative force), the vagus nerve represents the coordinating current (life flow regulator), and consciousness represents the awareness that arises when the system is sufficiently energized and integrated.

In this analogy, consciousness is not God. It is the light that becomes visible when the generator runs.

No generator means no light.


5. Why This Matters

This positioning changes the hierarchy.

In the traditional view, consciousness is primary and biology serves consciousness.

In our model, mitochondrial energy is primary, organized biology emerges from that energy, and consciousness emerges from organized biology.

This does not diminish consciousness. It clarifies its dependence.

Consciousness becomes a high - order biological achievement, a metabolic accomplishment, and a fragile, energy-dependent state.

6. Implications for the Larger Argument

If consciousness depends on mitochondrial integrity, then declining mitochondrial function diminishes clarity, mood, and cognitive depth. Metabolic dysfunction alters perception, and energy regulation influences spiritual experience.

This creates a bridge between physiology, psychology, and spiritual language, without collapsing one into the other.

7. Final Position

In our framework, mitochondria are the foundational energetic reality. The vagus nerve distributes and coordinates systemic coherence. Consciousness is the emergent, metabolically sustained experience of a living system.

It is not separate. It is not prior. It is not self - existing.

It is what happens when energy becomes organized enough to know itself.

If God is omnipresent, does Her form align with something that is always there in all living microbes in and around living creatures?

Could mitochondria be God's incarnation within living beings?

What does God look like?

The Bible says God created woman in her image—perhaps not in human appearance but as a super powerful very very small microbial being?

Until recently, intricate structures remained unseen — yet religious traditions have long described an inner energy.

Mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell, creates and sustains life by generating energy. Coincidence?

Yoga, prayer, and meditation have always centered on harnessing this unseen force.

Now, with advanced imaging, we can witness directly this energy flow.

The next step?: An even deeper microscope.

What will we find at an even smaller scale?

Do our internal living biomes make noise?

(much like the constant loud sounds of the creatures that live in the forest or the ocean?) Yes..

You can hear them as ringing in the ears, voices. your thoughts, etc.

Can they hear you? Yes..

Address them with respect and faith!

They already know what you know.

They are the one telling you what to see, think, feel, and what it all means.

They are waiting for us to gain consciousness, illuminated, to click and start working as a team.
